The Wareham, Massachusetts, community is mourning the loss of Cristian Hagopian, a 23-year-old man who died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near Charge Pond Road.
According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, Wareham Police received reports of a serious motorcycle crash shortly after 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Hagopian was transported to an area hospital for treatment but was pronounced deceased approximately two hours later.
Investigators learned through witness interviews that Hagopian had been riding with a group of other motorcyclists. However, witnesses indicated that no other riders were near him when he crashed into a wooded area close to his home.
Cristian’s family described him as a bright and talented young man who developed a lifelong passion for anything with wheels. His interests began with skateboards and scooters before expanding to cars and motorcycles. He had a natural curiosity about how machines worked and was determined to understand how to repair them.
His family said Cristian could fix nearly anything and was always willing to help people experiencing problems with their vehicles or motorcycles. He was undergoing training with the goal of becoming a Master Mechanic and most recently worked at Colonial Ford in Plymouth.
When he was not working on vehicles, Cristian enjoyed riding them with friends. He also loved music and traveling and dreamed of visiting Japan someday.
His death is especially painful for the Hagopian family, who previously lost Cristian’s older brother, Tré, to a rare form of cancer in 2023 at age 21. The family now finds comfort in the thought that the brothers are together again. Cristian is also survived by his younger sister, Jordann.
A community fundraiser established to assist with funeral expenses received significant support from family, friends and strangers moved by the tragedy.
Our deepest condolences go to Cristian’s parents, siblings, extended family and friends. His mechanical talent, generous spirit and love for cars and motorcycles will remain part of the memories shared by those who knew him.
