A southwest Columbus community is mourning the death of Ronald Strader, 54, who was killed in a motorcycle crash on the evening of August 21, 2026. The fatal collision occurred on Demorest Road near Ruoff Farm Drive, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Authorities said Strader was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Demorest Road at approximately 6:45 p.m. At the same time, an adult driver was traveling northbound in a 2011 Jeep Compass and attempted to make a left turn onto Ruoff Farm Drive.
During the turn, the Jeep collided with Strader’s motorcycle. The impact caused Strader to be thrown from the motorcycle, resulting in fatal injuries. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, where Columbus Division of Fire crews pronounced Strader dead.
The driver of the Jeep Compass and a passenger in the vehicle were not injured in the crash. Authorities have not indicated that any arrests or citations have been made, and the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
