The Fenton, Michigan, community is mourning the tragic death of Cynthia Susanne Prince, 56, of Linden, who died Friday night after being struck by a westbound Canadian National train near the Poplar Street railroad crossing.
According to authorities, officers with the Fenton Police Department responded to the railroad tracks at approximately 9:35 p.m. on August 21, 2026, following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a train. When officers arrived, they found Prince at the scene and emergency personnel immediately began lifesaving efforts.
Despite those efforts, Prince suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident prompted a significant emergency response. The Fenton Police Department was assisted by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Flint Township Police Department and Fenton Fire Department as authorities worked at the scene.
