Police have identified 42-year-old Masum Miah as the man who was fatally shot inside a car in East London, as detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to St Bartholomew’s Road in East Ham at approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following reports of gunshots. When officers arrived, they found Miah suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been reported in connection with the shooting, and detectives are continuing to establish what happened before, during, and after the incident.

The owner of the Range Rover, Abdul Qadir, who works at a nearby estate agency, told the Press Association that his vehicle’s alarm alerted his family shortly after 3 a.m. He said his daughter heard what sounded like gunshots, followed by the sound of vehicles colliding and people running away.
